Ray Rice will be returning to football. Although, probably not in the capacity he would have hoped for. The former Baltimore Ravens star--who has been out of the NFL since 2014 after being released by the Ravens for a domestic violence scandal--will take part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl as a coach. These days he is having trouble finding a team after surveillance footage recovered last year showed him viciously knocking out his then-fianceé Janay Palmer inside a casino elevator. Rice has been mostly quiet since the attack but this week he finally opened up. It's okay people. We can all relax. Apparently the NFL didn't purposefully mislead us! Former FBI director Robert Mueller today announced that an indecent investigation into the NFL's handling of the Ray Rice domestic abuse case found "no evidence" that the league or any associated league executive "saw or was in possession" of a video that displayed in-elevator footage of Rice hitting and nocking out his then fiancee Janay. Extremely well compensated NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and his buddies, New York Giants owner John Mara and Pittsburgh Steelers chief Art Rooney are all in the clear and apparently didn't lie when punishing Rice, y'know, twice for the same offense. The saga continues. New video surfaced late Friday, Dec. 19, of former NFL star Ray Rice and wife Janay Palmer kissing in an elevator shortly after Rice punched Palmer in an incident that earned him a league-wide suspension and national disgrace. The video, obtained by ABC News, shows the aftermath of the now-infamous incident in an Atlantic City, New Jersey, casino. Palmer is seen crying and handcuffed while being talked to by security officials after the incident occurred Feb. 15, according to Fox News. Rice was handcuffed and his information was taken. Then the video shows him being escorted, along with Palmer, into an elevator, by security. The two then spend the ride nudging and kissing, while Rice's hood is pulled over his head. ABC released about 2 1/2 minutes of the video, which is closer to 45 minutes long in its entirety, Fox News reported. Fox News also reported that Rice entered a facility for treatment after the incident in order to drop the charges and that the charges against Palmer were dropped. Read More »
During an interview with ESPN's Colin Cowherd, Obama said the league's missteps constituted "blind spots" when handling the case, which involved a video of Rice punching his then-fiancée in an elevator, according to Sports Illustrated. The league experienced widespread backlash when it suspended Rice for only two games after speculation that it had seen the video before the general public.
