The National Football Foundation had a dinner this week. It's called the National Football Foundation dinner. It was held in New York and lots of big names were there like legendary quarterback, Roger Staubach, and NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell. The former gave a speech. Not surprisingly, he not opened with a joke. However, the joke was aimed at the topic of concussions, a hot topic in the NFL right now. Goodell, who has been the subject of heavy criticism for the way he has handled such injuries, can be seen laughing at the joke. Read More »
Bill Simmons is the Sports Guy. More importantly, he's a fan of all things New England sports and when the Patriots rekindled their Spygate war - not DeflateGate - he of course went down to the gallows for his team. The moment ESPN, his former employee, posted an article that said Roger Goodell linked Spygate and Deflategate, Simmons went on to say that the Patriots didn't cheat. It's just that the other teams involved were awful. He cited Super Bowl implosions with lopsided scores by the Rams and Eagles as proof. Read More »
The New England Patriots have arguably been the best team in football since the start of the 2000s. With four Super Bowl wins, 12 AFC East division titles, and an undefeated 2007-2008 regular season, it's very hard to argue that point—even with Deflategate floating overhead. Head Coach Bill Belichick and future first ballot Hall of Fame Quarterback Tom Brady have created a dynasty in Foxboro, and though many stars have come and gone, the Pats have remained atop that division due to keeping these two around. So it's no surprise the Patriots are confidently going into the 2015-2016 season. Read More »
It's okay people. We can all relax. Apparently the NFL didn't purposefully mislead us! Former FBI director Robert Mueller today announced that an indecent investigation into the NFL's handling of the Ray Rice domestic abuse case found "no evidence" that the league or any associated league executive "saw or was in possession" of a video that displayed in-elevator footage of Rice hitting and nocking out his then fiancee Janay. Extremely well compensated NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and his buddies, New York Giants owner John Mara and Pittsburgh Steelers chief Art Rooney are all in the clear and apparently didn't lie when punishing Rice, y'know, twice for the same offense. Nothin' to see here folks. Read More »
Nobody is saying that Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch conducts himself in the most professional way. He is notorious for failing to speak to reporters and for giving childish one-word protest answers when he is forced to. Football players are rich and famous for showing, week after week, that they have giant cajones. But this week, Lynch was fined by the NFL for grabbing his. Read More »
The NFL has been without a Los Angeles team since 1994, when the Raiders and Rams moved to Oakland and St. Louis. And it seems like rumors of a team returning to the City of Angels have existed ever since those squads left. For now, the city is still left waiting and wishing. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told "The New York Times" that a move to Los Angeles is still unlikely to happen all the way in the future of 2015. Meaning fans in SoCal will have to wait at least another year. "I'm not at the point where I would tell you that anything is imminent or that we have a solution identified at this point in time," Goodell told the Times. "There is progress, but we've all heard that before." The most likely teams to move to L.A. one day are the San Diego Chargers, Raiders or Rams, according to "Sports Illustrated." That's because all three can wiggle out of stadium leases next year, giving them flexibility to uproot. Real estate mogul Stan Kroenke, who owns the Rams, owns property in Los Angeles large enough for a stadium to be built. The Rams are also peeved about not being able to agree with their lender for plans to renovate the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, according to "Sports Illustrated." Read More »
Ray Rice is back and ready to re-enter the NFL, but which team will take a huge risk and add the RB, who has seen his career ruined by his domestic abuse case, to their roster? Rice was one of the biggest stars in the NFL, but when a video of his assault on his then-wife-to-be Janay Rice went viral, the Baltimore Ravens wanted nothing to do with him. But he has been given a second chance: Janay has forgiven him and continued to offer her support for her husband, and now he's hoping to resurrect his career. The question is can he rebuild his career, and what team should take a chance and sign him? Several unnamed stars have added their support, saying that he does deserve a second chance. One fellow star added "everyone deserves a second chance." Another star explained: "I know Ray and his wife. I believe they've forgiven each other. I would accept him, and I think that my teammates would accept him." The final unnamed player — who played with Rice — insisted, "He seems very remorseful. As much as I am against domestic violence, I do believe in second chances. No more chances after that, though." Read More »
Suspended Minnesota Vikings superstar Adrian Peterson has shown that he's feeling remorse for the disciplining of his four-year-old son that saw him banned from the NFL for the rest of the season, saying he will "never use a switch again". He also revealed that he might not be headed back to the team that drafted him seventh overall in 2007, saying "Maybe it's best for me to get a fresh start somewhere else," in an interview with USA Today. Eminem has never been afraid to offend ... well, anyone, when it comes to his rap songs. But as Slim Shady has matured, he has tamed it down some, though now it appears he is back with a vengeance, insulting Lana Del Rey, Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson — all in the space of a few days. In the process, his name has been added to the "make them retire" list, but will the lyrically-lit rapper call it quits after insisting he'd punch Del Rey in the face, and will the unwanted NFL duo retire? Eminem mentioned Peterson's child abuse case in one of his latest songs, according to TMZ, saying, "What's makin' you think I need a switch? I'm Adrian Peterson. When he's raging and heated and on the way to go beat his kid ... On the track I spank like he just did." Read More »

Halloween is just days away, and it seems several fans are going as troubled NFL duo Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice. Many have bought their jerseys, and many have dressed up as the stars, showcasing their costumes at early parties and events. With many more events in the coming week, could the pair have the favored Halloween costume? Perhaps the fans are trying to support them, or perhaps they're suggesting they're that scary, and the NFL must fix the ongoing problems revolving the pair. But Maze singer Frankie Beverly and Charles Barkley have defended the Minnesota Vikings RB. Read More »
