Last month, "MStars News" reported that U.S. officials seized $1.8 million worth of counterfeit Hermès bags. But that seemingly large counterfeiting problem doesn't seem to have done much damage to the French luxury heritage brand's own handbag business, as sales have been steadily increasing. According to "Fashionista," Hermès said Thursday, Nov. 13, that revenue increased by a healthy 11 percent to 990.6 million euros — $1.2 billion — in the third quarter of 2014, and much of that was thanks to demand for the brand's French-made, high-end leather goods. A petition to get Gap Inc.'s Old Navy to stop charging more for women's plus-sized jeans has already gathered more than 35,000 signatures online. The petition charges Old Navy with sexism, noting that a pair of women's plus-sized jeans can cost about $15 more than regular jeans, while a pair of men's jeans costs the same no matter the size. Customers are also calling for Old Navy to put the larger apparel into stores, instead of just selling it online. Old Navy said the price difference has to do with craftsmanship. After two quarters of flat sales growth, American Apparel took a small nosedive in the third quarter of 2014, which wrapped up on September 30. In those three months, net sales dropped 5 percent, coming in at $155.9 million as compared to $164.5 million at the same time last year. Estee Lauder reported flat revenue for the first quarter of 2015, which ended September 30, with net sales coming in at $2.63 billion relative to last year's $2.68 billion. Foreseeing a number of challenges in the coming months, the company also cut its guidance for the full fiscal year.
