Let's just be real – this week sucks. First, David Bowie left us, and now it's being reported that legendary actor Alan Rickman has died from cancer—at the very same age as Bowie, 69 years old.
Again, this week blows.
But as our hearts are heavy, it's important to try and remember the joy Rickman brought his fans throughout his entire career. From Die Hard's villainous Hans Gruber to his oh-so-conflicted character of Harry in Love Actually and the incredibly creepy, yet heartbroken Harry Potter wizard Severus Snape, let's take a minute to check out some of Rickman's best moments.
Due to the actor's resume being incredibly vast, let's focus on his time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
HIS FIRST INTERACTION WITH HARRY POTTER
For people who didn't read the books, this first interaction was rather hard to watch, largely because we've all been there (meaning not paying attention in class). But of course, it was the first time we saw the creepy interaction between Snape and Potter and had a feeling that something more was there.
And if you stuck with the books/films, you know there was.
HIS DUEL WITH PROFESSOR GILDEROY LOCKHART
If you need any proof that Severus Snape was a badass, here it is. It's also the first time we see that Potter can talk to snakes, and the look on Snape's face is rather priceless.
CONFRONTING SIRIUS BLACK
In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Snape confronts Sirius Black and Professor Lupin. Sadly, Harry Potter's curiosity gets the best of him, and he therefore strikes Snape in order to obtain more information from his uncle.
SNAPE DIES (SPOILERS)
In The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Snape meets his maker. All the while, many assumed he was with Lord Voldermort; however, upon his death we learn the truth of Snape's mission.
And it's emotional as all hell. But not as tear-jerking as...
SNAPE'S MEMORIES
Also in Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is the time we delve into the mind of Severus Snape. Upon doing such, we were introduced to the reality of his mission and the truth behind him murdering Albus Dumbledore.
Oh yeah, and Snape was apparently the one who took Potter from the house after his parents were killed.
(Good God, we're crying just writing this.)
RIP, Alan Rickman. You. Were. The. Man.
