Season 11 of Bones aired its winter finale last night on Fox. Wen the show returns from its min-season break, are Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) getting "closer to their series finale?"
In the penultimate recap, Temperance Brennan (Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (Boreanaz) were working undercover at the Frontier Games. Elsewhere, Hodgins and Angela were working out their difference on whether or not they should have children. As Brennan and Booth solved the case, Hodgins admitted to Angela that he's not ready to have more children; breaking her heart.
In our finale recap, Aubrey (John Boyd) risked his life to save Hodgins as they unexpectedly found themselves near a bomb. Though the explosion sent them both to the hospital, Booth raced against the clock with Leslie (Sara Rue) to find the cop-killer. Just when Arrastoo (Pej Vahdat) begged for a second chance from Camille (Tamara Taylor), Hodgins told Angela he wanted to have more kids. Unfortunately, the couple discovered the explosion has left Hodgins paralyzed.
According to TV Line, during the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden explains she "really not sure" about a twelfth season renewal. Though the legal battle between the series leads and 20th Century Fox over Bones profits is "not resolved quite yet," it will have no influence on the decision to renew.
Walden states, "It's top of next-week business to start talking with the producers about whether this will be the end of its run or if it will go another season."
If these are the last episodes, the Fox co-chairman and CEO ensures series creator Hart Hanson and his team of writers, "will be given plenty of time to start writing a meaningful ending to the show. They have such a loyal fanbase, and those fans deserve a satisfying ending."
Bones will return to Fox for the rest of Season 11.
