During last night's episode of Saturday Night Live, host and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Adam Driver took a moment to breathe while veteran player Fred Armisen paid tribute to the late David Bowie.

Armisen appeared on the famed stage that has housed so many legends––including Bowie himself––to pay his respects. The Portlandia star and creator began by telling a story about growing up in Long Island and staying up after his bedtime in order to catch a glimpse of Bowie on Saturday Night Live. "Watching him was, for me, a life-changing experience," he says, calling the performance a transformative one.

"That night, for me, he transformed live television."

He then offered fans the chance to head on over to NBC's website to grab a peek at all of Bowie's performances on SNL. He then left the crowd with a video of Bowie performing on "The Man Who Sold The World" on the show way back in 1979.

Bowie famously passed away last week from a report of liver cancer, according to the New York Daily News. His death came just a couple of days after he released what would become his last album, Blackstar.

Driver's episode of SNL was the first one back since taking their Christmas hiatus, which ended with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well as musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band – and a random appearance by Paul McCartney.

This coming Saturday, Jan. 23, will welcoming in first-time host Ronda Rousey and first-time musical guest, Selena Gomez.
