'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' SPOILERS: Jewel Staite's Character, Future Timelines

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on Thursday, January 21, but there are plenty of spoilers to be had before the pilot airs. The latest batch deals with Jewel Staite's character, Rachel Turner, as well as the future timelines on the show.

News had previously broken that Staite would appear on the Arrow and The Flash spinoff as a tech genius and roboticist who lives at a point in the future when technology has an even greater hold ove our lives than it does today.

Turner descends from a long line of inventors, including someone from the DC Universe. She hopes to aid the world with her inventions, but Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) eventually steals her technology and uses it for his own horrific ends. Because of this, Turner joins forces with the Legends team to stop him.

KSite TV spoke with executive producer Phil Klemmer and got some more details about Ms. Turner, specifically her connection to the group of main characters.

"She's related to one of our heroes. We will find that she's not a person off the street," Klemmer said. "We are going into the most distant future that we will be visiting, and we will find that she is the biological result of something that one of our characters either directly or indirectly did before their recruitment in the pilot, in 2016. As we know, when we pull our characters out of the timeline, they cease to have an effect on the future, but this will be a sort of Ghost of Christmas Future where somebody will realize that something that they did before they left had a butterfly effect on the future that will effectively - they will have aided and abetted Vandal Savage's rise to power."

This is an interesting wrinkle because it clarifies how time travel works on the show and how the Legends' absence from the timeline affects the future. And speaking of the future, Klemmer confirmed that the show will never go past the year 2166 in this first season. This year features the "Second Blitz of London" when Savage makes his final play to take over the world.
