Mariah Carey is Officially Engaged to Australian Billionaire Boyfriend James Packer

Mariah Carey and her billionaire boyfriend James Packer are officially engaged. The 45-year old diva and the 48-year old Aussie businessman have finally ended weeks of speculation concerning their relationship. It was rumored that the couple had gotten engaged over the Christmas holiday in Colorado when the "We Belong Together" vocalist was spotted wearing a sparkler on her finger, but those claims proved to be false.

According to E! News, the real thing just happened in New York when Packer got down on one knee in front of the multi-Grammy winner and popped the question with a 35 carat diamond ring. The proposal took place at Eleven Madison Park during a private dinner which included many of Carey's friends and loved ones. The event was the culmination of what has been a fairy tale romance.

The one time American Idol judge met her future husband in 2014 at the premier of Hercules in Aspen. In a recent interview with Steve Harvey she claimed, "We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that. So, we hit it off." They officially began dating in June 2015. "As soon as their friendship turned romantic, they have wanted to spend every moment together," said an inside source who added "They have a connection that is unparalleled; it's been a very beautiful experience for them both. If you spend even five minutes with them, you can't help but believe in true love."

For the past 10 months, the woman who sold over 160 million records and the man worth an estimated 4.7 billion dollars have traveled the world on romantic dates to Israel, Ibiza, St. Bart's and Italy. They recently spent New Year's Eve in Australia at Packer's Melbourne Crown casino where Carey performed. As she took the stage she commented "Spectacular, handsome ... I don't even have words for the man who introduced me tonight. We'll just say the amazing Mr. James Packer."

This makes the third marriage for both of the affianced couple. Carey was previously married to music executive Tommy Mottola and actor/comedian Nick Cannon with whom she has two children. Packer's previous marriages include fashion designer Jodhi Meares and singer/model Erica Baxter with whom he has three children. At present a wedding date has not been set for the parents of the future blended family.
