Colton Dixon & New Wife Annie Stayed Pure Until Marriage: "It Made it Really Special"

Former American Idol singer Colton Dixon is a married man now! He and his new wife, Annie Coggeshall, decided to stay pure and wait until their marriage to have sex. After speaking with People Magazine about their wedding day, the two lovebirds claimed that waiting "made it really special." The Mr. and Mrs. who honeymooned at a Polynesian resort said they felt a bit weird staying in the same hotel room because they were so use to staying in two separate hotel rooms before tying the knot. "It was kind of strange: we checked into the room and realized, 'We actually get to go to sleep side by side! This is so cool!'" Colton, admitted. "Anywhere we've traveled before, we've always gotten two hotel rooms. We wanted to remain pure in that area."

The couple said their "I Dos" earlier this month on January 8 in Nashville at the Scarritt Bennett Center. Dixon popped the question to Annie at Disney World where he incorporated a glass slipper into his proposal.

With strong Christian values, the couple explained why they made the decision to wait until their wedding to consummate their marriage. "It was not easy!" Dixon admitted. "But I believe sex was designed for marriage and I knew it would be more meaningful to wait. That was something I grew up thinking and feeling, and I believe the Bible backs it up as well." His wife added, "It wasn't because someone was telling me this is what you should do. Deep down in my heart it felt like it was the right thing. And we're really glad we did. We know God's hand is on our marriage." MStars News wishes the couple a happy life and hope their marriage is everything they wanted.
