Three weeks after David Bowie's death, the Starman's will has been revealed, and widow Iman, with whom he was married for the last 24 years of his life, is getting the biggest part. Bowie's children, film director Duncan Jones and teenage daughter Alexandria Zahra, also received large amounts, but who else did Bowie think of before his death?
According to Page Six, the rock star's will was filed last Friday in a Manhattan court, as Bowie had been living in New York for years and died in at his apartment in the city.
In the court papers, it is revealed that he'd left the better part of his $100-million fortune to Iman -- around half of his fortune as well as their shared Manhattan home. However, the model won't be receiving the entire amount right away. William Zysblat and Patrick Grafton, two of Bowie's lawyers, will be managing Iman's income in a trust, paying her four times a year, but she can ask for additional funds for "health, education and maintenance."
As for the rest of Bowie's fortune, it'll mostly go to his two children, Duncan and Alexandria. The eldest, from his marriage with Angie Bowie, will receive the totality of his $25 million inheritance right away, while the teen will get her share of the money at 25, as well as her father's home in upstate New York.
Other than Bowie's close family, other people in his will include Marion Skene, who was the nanny for the rock star's oldest child, who got $1 million in his will. Bowie's personal assistant and long-time friend, Corinne Coco Schwab, will receive $2 million and has been named the guardian of his daughter with Iman in the case the widow dies before her 18th birthday.
NBC News reports that the singer also asked his ashes to be scattered in Bali "in accordance to Buddhist rituals," saying he wanted to be cremated on the island but were that "not practical," he still wanted his ashes scattered there. Bowie's remains were quietly cremated in New Jersey last January 12.
