The FOX series Lucifer already features two DC characters other than Tom Ellis' suave devil: Mazikeen or "Maze," who is played by Lesley-Ann Brandt and the angel Amenadiel portrayed by D.B. Woodside. Still, fans of both the show and the comic book series can't help but wonder if characters like Neil Gaiman's the Endless will make an appearance in the show.
Lucifer showrunner Tom Henderson has finally addressed the questions when he spoke to Comic Book Resources, where he confirmed that he is interested in bringing in more characters who were made popular by Gaiman's The Sandman as well as Mike Carey's spin-off comic series.
"I personally am going to try to get Gaudium in there at some point," Henderson said. "I don't know how -- I don't think we're going to be able to do a Grey Gargoyle Cherub, but what's our version of that? What's our translation of that? We sort of have a checklist of themes, the ideas, the stuff we can play with from the original work, the Mike Carey and Peter Gross run, the Neil Gaiman stuff, The Sandman. It's really nice because we've got all these crazy ideas that can be the impetus for different ideas that we can make our own."
Gaudium is one of Lucifer's companions in his solo comic book series and is undoubtedly one of the most fun characters who could appear in the show. However, Sandman fans are also hoping to see characters like Dream or the rest of the Endless in Lucifer. Henderson chose his words carefully when he addressed the possibility.
"I don't know. We were just so focused on letting Lucifer stand on his own feet," he said. "Believe me, it's tempting to try. We made a very conscious decision: this is Lucifer's story, let's not muddy the waters yet. But if DC's willing, how would you not want to play with those? But we don't know."
Lucifer airs on FOX every Monday nights.
