Game of Thrones fans who were hoping to get a glimpse of Jon Snow in the new Season 6 teaser were not disappointed, as Kit Harington's face was definitely a huge part of the short trailer. However, the teaser seemed to have caused more confusion since Jon's face is mounted on the Hall of Faces along with Ned Stark, Robb Stark and Catelyn Stark!
The Game of Thrones Season 6 teaser opens with a sweeping shot of the Hall of Faces in the House of Black and White, where the voice of Ned (Sean Bean) echoes, "The man who passes the sentence can swing the sword." Robb (Richard Madden) is also in the Hall, and he laments, "I've won every battle, but I'm losing this war." Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) has a dark advice: "Show them how it feels to lose what they love," while Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) remains sadistic as he claims, "Everyone is mine to torment."
The teaser takes a heartbreaking turn as Jon's face appears in the Hall. "The long night is coming," he says, but it is not over. The hall is revealed to have the faces of Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and so many other characters who are still alive in the series. "And the dead come with it," Jon concludes.
So what does this say about Jon and his fate in Game of Thrones? It might confirm the death of the character, but the teaser also suggests that all the other characters are already dead.
Although it may appear like a dark joke pointing to author George R.R. Martin's tendency to kill off several characters in his A Song of Ice and Fire books, the teaser might actually be suggesting that everyone in Westeros will be killed if no one can stop Winter. But Jon might actually know how to save the Seven Kingdoms.
