AMC aired the mid-Season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead. This is the prefect opportunity to check out what was discussed between host Chris Hardwick, makeup artist/director Greg Nicotero, actor Benedict Samuel, and musical guest Carrie Underwood as they analyzed the episode, No Way Out.
In our recent recap, Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) and her youngest son were devoured by the walker horde. Because Jessie was holding onto Carl (Chandler Riggs), Rick had to chop her hand off. Though Michonne (Danai Gurira) drove her sword into Ron, he fired off a shot, hitting Carl in the eye. With his son in the infirmary, Rick had enough and started hacking away at the walkers. Knowing Rick was fighting for them, the community joined their leader as they took their last stand against the herd to save Alexandria.
Here are 5 lessons we learned from The Talking Dead here:
5) He's Australian!
This critic's favorite parts of the episode were the scenes between Denise and The Wolf (Benedict Samuel). Speaking with a different accent all together, it was interesting to learn Samuel is Australian. The Wolf sacrificed himself in order to save Denise when the walkers grabbed him. Was he ever at a point of fully redeeming himself? We'll never know because Carol (Melissa McBride) killed him before we ever got an answer! Not cool Carol!
4) He Blew It Up!
In the opening sequence, Daryl (Norman Reedus) used his rocket launcher to blow up Negan's gang. A creative use of editing, dummies, and CGI, it actually looks like the gang exploded in one shot, without a single cut. Of course, they really put motorcycle parts on fire.

3) Lake of Fire! In order to shoot the episode, the cast and crew had to work nights. It was difficult to shoot because filming took place during the summer; which meant a lot more sunlight. Even Aaron mention she hadn't slept during those five nights. In the end, the lake of fire sequence looked magnificent in the end.
2) Don't Call Him Dummy, Dummy! In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nicotero explained how he made the gunshot wound. It was actually Rick carrying a life-like dummy in the wide shots. Nictoero adds, ""We used the graphic novel as reference but if you look at the wound in the comic (at top), he would never survive that bullet hole," Nicotero adds. "So we had to make sure it was something we believed Carl would be able to survive the impact of. It was as if the bullet hit that part of the skull that's just above the cheekbone and ricocheted outward and sent bone fragments into his eye. When Rick picks up Carl and runs through the horde of zombies and into the infirmary, that was all with the dummy. That wasn't Chandler."
1) She's Not Going To Make It! Probably the worst question ever, Hardwick asked audiences to vote, "Does Carrie Underwood have a chance to surviving the zombie apocalypse?" Even as the American Idol singer defended herself, her numbers kept plummeting. It wasn't even haters or trolls; it was a unanimous "No!"
