While fans of Gilmore Girls have been over the moon for the past few weeks after Netflix confirmed they'd be airing a four-part revival of the beloved series, some returning cast members didn't get as much excitement, including Vanessa Marano, who will reprise her role as April Nardini. However, the actress may have just revealed what we all need to hear: Luke and Lorelai are still together!
Marano, who after Gilmore went on to find notoriety by playing Bay in Switched at Birth, recently sat down with Just Jared Jr. to discuss her involvement in the mega-hyped revival of the show that first put her on the map. Aware of how much hate her character gets, Marano told the outlet that she wanted to save her character from fans now that it's been years since she first showed up -- and may have revealed some details in the process.
"There's no drama that April is at the center of in this revival, which is so nice. She's just kind of there, being a part of the family, which is awesome," said the actress. "I've only shot the one day at this moment in time, so as of right now ... April is not breaking up any major couples right now. We'll see how that goes."
Now, while this obviously means April is all-around harmonious with her environment, that might mean something else: that Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Luke Danes (Scott Paterson) have already managed to work it out as a big, weird family, because what other family could April be all around cool with?
According to Gilmore News, Marano's return for the Netflix revival (which so far is tentatively called Gilmore Girls: Seasons) was met with mixed response online, as April is one of the most disliked characters in the show. Why? Because she, Luke's daughter, popped in just as he was about to marry Lorelai, which resulted in a series of events that led to them breaking up their engagement and relationship altogether.
Of course, ultimately Lorelai and Luke broke things off because they didn't know how to handle April's presence, so it's pretty unfair that the super bright 12-year-old girl was the one who took all the hate; but then again, what fandom is fair to its characters?
In any case, this might be the first sign that everybody's favorite couple from Gilmore Girls is still going strong after all these years!
