USA Network has given a straight-to-series order to the pilot, Eyewitness. From the hit cop drama, Shades of Blue, creator Adi Hasak adds actress Julianne Nicholson to the cast of the American remake of the Norwegian series.
As we previously mentioned, USA Network has granted a 10-episode arc for the adaptation of the Norwegian crime thriller, Øyevitne. Not only will Hasak wrote the pilot, he will also serve as executive producer/showrunner. The original series' creator Jarl Emsell Larsen also joins the creative team as executive producer. Anneke von der Lippe won the Best Actress International Emmy for her role of the police investigator.
According to the plot synopsis, two innocent teenage boys secretly meet up in the forest. They suddenly bear witness to a gruesome shooting. After barely escaping with their lives intact, the two are desperate to keep their relationship a complete secret. They are in fear of being found out by the perpetrator. Though they remain silent, the duo will soon learn the awful truth; what has been seen cannot be unseen. This horrible event they witnessed will change everything forever.
Dawn Olmstead, EVPDevelopment at Universal Cable Productions states, "Norway's incredible show Eyewitness is a bone-chilling thrill ride that not only exposes the details of a crime but also the secrets of the witnesses who watched. When Adi brought this to UCP, we immediately knew we had to be involved."
According to TV Line, the Masters of Sex actress has joined the cast. The Black Mass alum will play Helen Torrance, described as a former big-city homicide detective. After leaving her harrowing career, the small-town sheriff finds herself investigating gruesome crime. The loving wife is thrust back into the traumas of her past. No word yet on when Eyewitness will make its USA Network debut.
