On Memorial Weekend, the world will finally meet Betsy Braddock aka Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. Olivia Munn, who will play the telepathic mutant in the movie, has previously shown off her sword fighting skills on Instagram, but how did the Magic Mike actress get so good at wielding swords? It turns out she did it the old-fashioned way: non-stop training.

USA Today recently spoke to Munn at the Vanity Fair-Fiat Young Hollywood Party in Los Angeles, and the Newsroom star confirmed that she threw herself whole-heartedly into bringing Psylocke to life.

"I started training, doing 6 to 7 hours a day of sword and tae kwon do, never picked up a sword before," Munn admitted. "But it's really important to me that Psylocke was as believable as possible and that meant to me that I had to really know what I was doing and be strong."

In addition to that, Munn confirmed that she wanted Psylocke to leave a believable first impression.

"Since this is the introduction to the character in the X-Men world, the fight scene, for me, was the monologue," she shared. "It meant everything to me to be able to do it."

All the hard work has certainly paid off, and there is no one prouder of Munn than her other half.

"He's very proud of me, to see the dedication that I put into it," she said of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers, who she admits rewards her for her work.

"It's everyday he does something that's surprising and sweet and romantic," Munn said.

X-Men: Apocalypse is directed by Bryan Singer and will also feature newcomers like Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Lana Condor and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The film will premiere on May 27.
