Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who is currently shooting Sultan with Anushka Sharma, has received death threats from an unknown caller. The Mumbai police have received the threatening calls from a stalker in their control room last week.
It should be noted that the superstar, who was recently acquitted by the Bombay High Court from all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case in suburban Bandra, that the threat calls came in as a surprise. An unknown caller connected the Mumbai police in the control room and threatened to eliminate the star.
Though no case has been registered against the caller yet, police have managed to trace the place from where both the calls were made. As reported by NDTV Movies, the Azad Maidan police have now registered a complaint. The anonymous calls were traced to local PCOs in Marine Lines in South Mumbai and suburban Malad.
According to Indian Express, Mumbai Police is further investigating as to who the caller could be and have ordered to check footages of all CCTV cameras installed in the area. Initially, the officials treated the calls, made on Feb 16 as a hoax, but when another call was received the following day, they sprung into action.
As the security of the star has now been jeopardized, police are leaving no stone unturned to protect him. A senior officer was quoted as saying that they are assuming the unidentified caller, who said he would shoot the star, was under the influence of alcohol.
They are doing the best they can to find out who the caller is and take proper action against him. The officer also mentioned that they called up Khan to question whether he received similar death threats, to which the actor replied negative. It has yet to be seen whether the anonymous caller, who wants the superstar dead, was involved with criminal activities or as the police suspect, was drunk when he made the call.
Khan starrer Sultan is slated for release during Eid 2016.
