There's understandably a lot of solemnity surrounding the race to the White House because of how important the job to run it actually is. However, the candidates do sometimes fool around as well during the tough months of campaigning. Now, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton visited the set of ABC's Scandal -- and she met with Kerry Washington's Olivia Pope and Tony Goldwyn's Fitzgerald Grant!

Scandal is one of the most popular political series in recent times (up there next to Netflix's Machiavellian hit House of Cards). So it's no surprise that a Presidential nominee would be interested in dropping by for a meet and greet. In any case, not only was she around, the cast of the show went wild with photos of the White House hopeful on social media.

Besides Washington, co-stars like Scott Foley (Jake Ballard) and Katie Lowes (Quinn Perkins) took to Instagram to show off a range of selfies and other photos with Clinton, while the real-life Olivia Pope was more than happy to show her support for who could become the first female president of the United States.

In a case of art imitating fiction, the Scandal storyline currently involves a former First Lady running for the White House. Mellie Grant (played by Bellamy Young), whose husband Fitz was involved in a cheating scandal, became a Senator for her home state and is now searching the White House nomination.

Clinton, of course, was the First Lady in the 1990's when her husband Bill was the Leader of the Free World. She later went off to have a career as a New York Senator that led to her becoming Secretary of State under Barack Obama's first term.

So, if someone should like the current storylines in Scandal, it should be Clinton -- although she might not be the biggest fan of the idea of Olivia Pope helping Mellie into the White House.
