Lana Condor may be a relative newcomer, but this May, she will be making her big screen debut as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse. The young actress recently admitted that she had never acted before the film and had to get help from co-star, Sophie Turner!
"She's just so cool. Way cooler than I am, I think. She gets along with everyone," Condor said to Paper about Jubilation Lee before sharing that the character also gets to represent Asians in the X-Men universe.
"I was having this discussion with Bryan [Singer], our director, about how she represents Asians in general," she said. "X-Men have always been outsiders - minority groups, gays and lesbians. It's like the outsiders banding together to be one. So they never really had another Asian, except for Blink, so Jubilee gets to represent the Asian outsiders who haven't really had the easiest time fitting into society. And that's cool."
Condor also shared that she got along well with the cool girls of Apocalypse, Game of Thrones actress Turner and Alexandra Shipp, who plays the young Storm.
"Alex and Sophie helped me a lot with things like hair and makeup," she said. "For example, when we were going to Comic-Con, I didn't know I needed hair or wardrobe. I didn't know about any of that. I thought I was just supposed to go in my T-shirt."
Luckily, Turner gave her a heads up on what to do for the event.
"Sophie was like 'Are you crazy? You have to have hair and makeup!' So they helped me a lot in the girl-y stuff," Condor said.
X-Men: Apocalypse marks the return of Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. The film will premiere on May 27.
