Jennifer Lopez has finally set the record straight. There isn't, nor has their supposedly ever been a feud between her and fellow diva Mariah Carey. Rumors to the contrary have been circulating for years. Obviously having much in common, including both being actress/singers in their mid-forties, both being divorced mothers of twins and both being American Idol judges, have fanned the competitive flames.
The 46-year-old Shades of Blue actress recently appeared on Monday's Watch What Happens Live when host Andy Cohen addressed the subject by bringing up the incident when she was seen texting at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards during the 45-year-old Carey's performance. "First of all-that was not fair them with the texting thing," claimed Lopez before adding "I watched a lot of it. It was a long performance. I watched most of it. I may have looked down for one second...So not fair! I was watching her the whole time."
Of course, the alleged feud dates back to the early 2000s, when the "You're Mine" songstress told reporters she didn't know who Lopez was, which some believe was a subtle jab at J-Lo's fame. However, Jenny from the Block claimed "I know from back in the day, I've read things that she's said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don't know each other. I think it's kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I'm not really aware of. I would love to meet her and I would love to be friends with her...I think she's incredibly talented and I've always been a fan of hers."
In a culture where we can't go a week without a celebrity feud happening (Nicki Minaj vs. Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift vs.Kanye West, Superman vs. Batman), it's refreshing and even surprising to hear of one that isn't. However, to fill your fix this week, here is a list of 5 celebrity feuds we'd probably all love to see.
5) Johnny Manziel vs. Chris Brown
Despite the fact that the football player and notorious rapper are not in the same universe with each other, so therefore are not competitors in any way, it would be great to see both these guys hit a man for a change.
4) Gwen Stefani and Miranda Lambert
It's the feud we always expected and never really got. The No Doubt singer's relationship with The Voice's Blake Shelton was certainly believed to be a factor in his split from the Platinum vocalist. However, not only did the two songstresses never clash, they never even said a negative word about each other. In fact, Lambert made headlines by actually following Stefani on Twitter. So this will have to be a cat-fight we could only imagine.
3) Matt Damon vs. Ben Affleck
It's one of the longest running bromances in Hollywood. The two actors have been tight since 1997 when they won their Oscar for co-writing Good Will Hunting. Of course, after almost 20 years of seeing them support each other (something rare in Hollywood), it might be interesting to see Batman and Jason Bourne drop the kindness and go at it.
2) Lucy Hale vs. Selena Gomez
As far as we know the Pretty Little Liars actress and the Revival songstress have never had a beef. In any event, a good skirmish between them would at the very least allow people to finally tell the lookalikes apart.
1) Kanye West vs. Justin Bieber
Between the two of them, they've probably ticked off more people than the Iraq war, so it would be a rarity to watch a battle in which you don't want a winner. Ironically, this feud may soon be a reality as West has recently cut the "Sorry" singer from his The Life of Pablo album.
