Kareena Kapoor Khan's Role Revealed in Upcoming 'Udta Punjab'

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is in the news for her forthcoming film Ki & Ka (opposite Arjun Kapoor), will soon be seen in an interesting role in Udta Punjab. The actress is gearing up to begin shooting for the film, in which she is said to be playing a parallel lead.

Kareena, who made headlines after her break-up with Shahid Kapoor in 2013, after courting him for three years, was back in the news when she signed for Udta Punjab alongside Shahid in the lead. The film has finally begun rolling now that the lead cast is locked for it.

Director Abhishek Chaubey, who hit it big with two successful films, Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya, has begun shooting for Udta Punjab, after careful and detailed research of four long years and some big names in the lead roles.

According to a report published in The Indian Express, Kareena will be seen playing the role of simple doctor who happens to be a Good Samaritan in the movie. The stylish actress, who was last seen in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, has played the role of a doctor in several movies before Udta Punjab like Kyon Ki..., Kambakkht Ishq, Agent Vinod and 3 Idiots before.

What makes this role different is the fact that the film is very dark and gritty and her role, though simple, is set against a murky background. Kareena was quoted by PinkVilla as saying:

"I play a doctor in the film. It's (the role) very simple and nice, good Samaritan kind of a thing. But the whole atmosphere of the film is so nice and dark that the role is very different."

The actress will be seen opposite Diljit Dosanjh in Udta Punjab, a film which deals with the drug-related issue in the heartlands of Punjab. It also stars Shahid and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The film is set to release in June.

Khan will soon be seen in R Balki's quirky love story, Ki & Ka, which will see her as a career-oriented wife while her better half, played by Arjun, will be seen as a house-husband.

Ki & Ka will release on April 01, 2016.
