'Ghostbusters' 2016 Trailer Is Here & All-Female Cast Reboot Looks Hilarious

After months of waiting, the first trailer for the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot has finally arrived, and the promise of the all-female cast seems to deliver. In the first trailer, three paranormal scientists (Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig) team up with one savvy New Yorker (Leslie Jones) to defeat apparitions -- with the help of sexy and objectified secretary Chris Hemsworth.

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for the film this Thursday morning, and with it came the official first look at what fans will be getting from this new venture. The story arc is finally explained here. In the trailer, we see the three science ladies at work fighting ectoplasmic presences (including how one ghost hurls some pretty yucky green stuff on Wiig), but it seems the menace is now growing throughout New York City.

To navigate the town, they take some help from a subway worker (Jones, as hilarious as ever) who also happens to have a car available for them to bust some ghosts with it. Of course, the thing is a hearse, but it'll have to do.

Does the premise of ghost presence growing larger and larger sound familiar? Of course it does: that's exactly the main issue in the original Ghostbusters movie.

A new twist on the old formula, the film looks like it's going the Star Wars: The Force Awakens route. It follows the same story with a more updated, knowing twist to the familiar tale. So far, so good, however; if it's anything like the Disney movie in that regard, Ghostbusters should be a very successful movie.

Other than Rick Moranis, who basically retired from acting years back, the entire main cast of the original film is returning for the new event, at least with cameos. In other words, fans of the cult comedy will be able to see Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and yes, even superstar comedian Bill Murray.
