Audiences have ben eagerly anticipating the Season 2 premiere of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix. This is the perfect opportunity to check up on Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Elektra (Elodie Yung) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle aka The Punisher) as they become their comic book alter egos.
As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom battles. The man without fear continues his crime-fighting adventures after defeating Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), which nearly came with a heavy cost.
Check out our 5 reasons why we're excited for Marvel's Daredevil Season 2 here:
5) The Punisher's Here!
Who else is excited to see The Walking Dead actor stepping into the Frank Castle role? Jon Bernthal steps into the shoes of Thomas Jane (The Mist), Ray Stevenson (Black Sails), and Dolph Lundgren (Masters of the Universe). After being directed by master filmmaker Martin Scorsese, we're sure the Wolf of Wall Street actor will put his own spin on Marvel's anti-hero and his iconic skull costume.
4) We Meet The Greek Girl!
Mentioned back in Nelson v. Murdock, Elodie Yung is finally seen as she puts on the red ninja mask over her mouth. ust like in Sin City writer Frank Miller's gritty run on Daredevil, Murdock and Elektra start a fight with each other. This is considered foreplay between them, before they jump right into bed together. The footage teases there's going to be a steamy sex scene between the two.
3) It's Their Show Now!
New showrunners Doug Petrie (American Horror Story: Coven) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) stepped in after Steven DeKnight had given them the reins so he could become the director of Pacific Rim 2. Not only are they keeping the crime drama take, Petrie and Ramirez are adding a revenge thriller look, reminiscent of Charles Bronson's cult classic, Death Wish.
2) The Hand!
Who's the Big Bad for the sophomore season? In the Marvel Universe, The Hand is a secret ninja organization that serves The Beast. The Hand has been spreading its dark influence over the world, and even contemplated about recruiting young Matt into their organization. Will this Beast be worse than Joss Whedon's Beast that Angel fought against? Does Daredevil need The Punisher's help when he takes on "The Rising" of the Beast?
1) The Fight Scenes!
In our recap of Season 1, during Cut Man, Daredevil was involved in a bloody one-take right sequence, like in Old Boy and The Raid 2. Just imagine an all-or nothing fight sequence between The Punisher (Bernthal) and Daredevil (Cox) done in one shot. I don't know who to root for in this sequence, but I have no doubt it's going to be awesome!
Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil premieres on Netflix March 18, 2016.
