HBO has released a red band trailer for the highly anticipated Season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones. This is the perfect opportunity to check up on Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) in author George R.R. Martin's ongoing epic saga.
In the fifth season finale, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) was forced to strip nude and had to be humiliated during her walk of atonement. As Cersei sworn revenge against the High Sparrow and the Faith of the Seven, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) witness the poisoning of his daughter Myrcella. While Daenerys was surrounded by a Dothraki horde, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was stabbed to death by the traitorous Nights' Watch.
According to the official plot synopsis, the sixth season kicks off its ten-episode arc this upcoming April. Based on the popular book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, the critically acclaimed and award-winning HBO drama chronicles an epic struggle for power in the vast and violent continent of Westeros. In the Seven Kingdoms, this is where summers and winters can last years, just as long as the civil wars that ensue.
As TV Line reports, the footage suggests, "a cover of "Wicked Games" plays in the background, Westeros' main players endure danger, dirt and deceit. Among the memorable moments: a tarnished Daenerys walks in the midst of an insanely large khalasar, Cersei vows "I choose violence" and Melisandre tearfully laments that "The great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie."
In the red band trailer, watch as Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage) warns, "You're in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying."
