It has already been confirmed that Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow has chosen to join Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War. But does this mean that Natasha Romanoff will once again face off with Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, who almost killed her in The Winter Soldier?
Civil War co-director Joe Russo recently joined a BuzzFeed Ask Time Q&A, where he addressed a question about Natasha's role in the fight in the movie.
"She is conflicted," Russo revealed, adding that the clash between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony is something Natasha absolutely dreads.
"This is her worst nightmare," he wrote. "She sees the value to both sides."
Russo also explained that Black Widow's decision to join Team Iron Man was not an easy choice because of her friendship with Steve.
"Her relationship with Cap is very deep and is a continuation of their story from Winter Soldier," he added. "But due to very personal reasons they wind up on opposite sides."
In addition to that, Russo revealed that Black Widow will certainly be taking on the Winter Soldier once again in Civil War.
"She & Bucky definitely have an encounter," he teased, adding a smiley face at the end of his response.
Black Widow and the Winter Soldier had a memorable fight sequence in the second Captain America film, where Steve saves Natasha from the mercenary. It is then that he discovers that the Winter Soldier is actually his best friend who he thought was killed in The First Avenger.
Captain America: Civil War also stars Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Don Cheadle as War Machine. The film will also introduce Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who has just been confirmed to be in Team Iron Man.
