We are knee deep into season 5 of the hit show Scandal and the creators have continued to bring on all the drama. In the next episode, we see Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield) trade in her white hat and switch over to the other side along with Olivia (Kerry Washington). After questioning Cyrus's (Jeff Perry) motives when it comes to the White House Abby is starting to see things for what they really are- and get a surprise along with everyone else with a blast from the past.
Last episode, we watched as Olivia and her associates had to clean up the mess that the secret service agents made. Along that quest, Olivia had to pay a visit to her ex President Grant (Tony Goldwyn). The two who haven't seen each other since their breakup were clearly uncomfortable during their exchange. In true Liv fashion, she put Fitz in his place for allowing his secret service agents to act so foolishly with almost tarnishing his reputation and that of the White House.
Mellie (Bellamy Young) gets the shock of her life as she brings Teddy to see Fitz and catches him with a blonde in his room wearing nothing but a bathrobe. In a classy yet demanding tone, Mellie lets Fitz know that he better keep all his ladies away from their son. Jake (Scott Foley) visits Liv in the middle of the night and confronts her for spying on him. Things start to get intimate but Liv stops it as she questions Jake's motives with his new girlfriend Vanessa. Francisco Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) asks Cyrus to run his campaign for President. Of course, this fits perfectly in the original plan Cyrus had all along. Vargas opens up to Cyrus about his daughter's cancer prognosis. Fitz promises Susan (Artemis Pebdani) that not only will he endorse her but also he will be the man that she would want to back her.
In the teaser for the next episode, Liv is giving Abby the way of the land and letting her know that there will be a price to pay for taking off the white hat. Abby is determined to run the White House on her terms and after finding out what Cyrus is up to she is not stepping down.
Episode 14 of Scandal will air on Thursday on ABC at 9/8c. Make sure you tune in to see who makes a surprise appearance.
