There is just one more day to go before the premiere of Daredevil Season 2, yet Elodie Yung continues to tease about Elektra Natchios' appearance in the Netflix series. The actress has just confirmed that her sexy fighting costume actually gets her "in Elektra killing mode!"
Yung spoke to Comic Book Resources, explaining why Elektra will be spending most of the first few Daredevil episodes out of her costume.
"My work was trying to capture the essence of all her character," Yung said. "I think what they tried to do -- and I think they did it brilliantly in this show -- was trying to capture also this essence."
Elektra is decidedly more covered-up than how the character appears in the comic books, where her costume somehow leaves little to the imagination. Yung was quick to point out that the original Elektra costume wouldn't be easy to pull off in Hell's Kitchen.
"You couldn't have me running on rooftops in New York in the middle of winter in a red bikini," she said. "That would not make sense for this show. I would probably have died from coldness."
Beating the cold wasn't the only thing Yung and the producers had in mind when they came up with the design for Elektra's Daredevil costume. The actress stated that it was important for the character to still have the tough yet sexy appearance she has in the comic books.
"They had to translate it in a more practical way, but still keep this badass killer. Because she is also this -- she's been trained to kill. So we needed this," Yung said, adding that the new costume still does justice to Elektra's more flesh-baring appearance created by Frank Miller for the comics.
"I think when you look at the costume that [Miller] designed and [the costume] they created for this show, I think you have the same vibe. This strong female character who -- she goes for the throat, she goes for the killing," she said before admitting that her Daredevil costume helps get her in the zone.
"I think you have that, or at least I do when I wear the costume," Yung shared. "I feel like 'Okay, I'm in Elektra killing mode. Don't f--k with me.' So we get that essence, that feeling."
The second season of Daredevil airs on Netflix on March 18.
