Shonda Rhimes' iconic medical drama, Grey's Anatomy, has been running for over a decade now with no signs of stopping, and last year, fans got one of the most shocking deaths of Shondaland, which is saying a lot: Patrick Dempsey's Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd was killed off! Nearly a year later, an old clip from the show's season 1 has resurfaced -- and there's some heavy foreshadowing in it!

According to BuzzFeed, Reddit user Saskatchewanbr recently reminded the boards that back in the second episode of the show, Derek and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) were treating a rape victim in a coma and they talked about what it'd be like if they were in that situation.

"I have four sisters... If I were in a coma, they'd all be here. I'd want them here," Derek tells Meredith in the scene, 10 years before he actually ended up in a coma.

In the aftermath of Derek's death, much of the show's current conflict goes about how Meredith pulled his life support when he was on a coma, without consulting his family.

Ever since, Meredith has had numerous issues with Derek's sister, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), as the two have been confronting each other time and again in the time since McDreamy died, as Amelia complains she didn't get to say goodbye. If Derek's words in the first season were in fact planned for his death later on, this would mean, without a shadow of a doubt, that Meredith acted against her husband's wishes.

So far neither Rhimes nor anyone else in her production company has said anything about this recently resurfaced material, but it could just as easily be a coincidence. Considering the show has lasted this long and has covered so many soap opera-type antics, it doesn't seem absurd that there's foreshadowing to other events later on -- much like how every few months, it pops out that The Simpsons has "predicted" one thing or anything.
