'Sleepy Hollow' Season 3 Spoilers: Twitter Reacts Nicole Beharie/Abbie Mills Finale Twist!

Fox aired the season finale of Season 3 of the supernatural drama, Sleepy Hollow. During the fight against Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon) concluded, Twitter had lots to say about the shocking twist between Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills' (Nicole Beharie)!

In the finale recap, Abbie stepped into Pandora's box and ended her own life in order to save the world from The Hidden One's tyranny. Ichabod then stopped Pandora by summoning The Headless Horseman, who the fatal blow. Mourning his loss, Ichabod relived his memories with his partner before saving goodbye. But Crane's mission wasn't over as he continued his search for the next Witness before the FBI does.

In an interview with TV Line, showrunner Clifton Campbell explains why Abbie had to die, "Nicole Beharie as Abbie Mills is no longer with the show. The character is dead. But we've had a terrific run with her. She's been an absolute delight. She helped build out the mythology of the show, and we've had a tremendous run with her. The character is gone and, like I said, in Sleepy Hollow it's always surprising to see how the reflections of one character or another can influence the show moving forward."

Beharie mentioned in her statement, "Sleepy Hollow has been an incredible experience in every way. I loved playing Abbie. It's been such a gift to have taken this wild ride... Alas, 'Abbie Mills has done all she was meant to do.' I'm excited about what the show has in store for us next."

Fox also released this statement, "We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we've seen on-screen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing Season 4, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore."
