Almost every little boy dreams of becoming a superhero like Spider-Man, but only a few can get a chance to play Peter Parker in the movies. That is exactly what happened to Tom Holland, who will play the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War and Sony's 2017 Spider-Man reboot. However, the Impossible star has just admitted that although he is happy to get the role of a lifetime, the opportunity was also "pretty terrifying!"
According to ComicBook.com, Holland recently attended the Civil War world premiere in Los Angeles. While out on the red carpet, the young actor confirmed that he was initially terrified about appearing as Spider-Man in Captain America 3.
"At first it was pretty terrifying, but as you know Marvel are a powerhouse, they have the best in the business in every stage of the film," Holland said, adding that he enjoyed working with Civil War costars Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.
"I was in such good hands, working with Robert and Chris, they were with me every step of the way," he declared.
Holland also admitted that although he never expected to get an opportunity to play Spider-Man, he had always enjoyed the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
"I was a huge fan of Marvel for years and years before this became a possibility in my life," he said, adding, "I'm so privileged."
Although it may seem that the Spider-Man role was simply dropped on Holland's lap, Daredevil actor Jon Bernthal recently revealed that his Pilgrimage costar worked hard to land the part.
"I saw him go through the process of trying to win that role," he said of Holland. "He fought for it. He just went out and got it. That's not an easy feat."
Captain America: Civil War will crash into theaters on May 6 while the Spider-Man reboot is scheduled for release in 2017.
