Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Marvel Studios has released an all-new teaser trailer. This is the perfect opportunity to check out Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in director Scott Derrickson's Marvel's Doctor Strange.
As we previously mentioned, the Sherlock actor himself will play Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. The origin story follows an ex-neurosurgeon as he struggles to move forward from a horrific car accident. After discovering the hidden world of dark magic and alternate dimensions, Stephen Strange trains himself to become the Sorcerer Supreme, the man responsible for The Midnight Sons and The Secret Defenders.
Check out our 5 Thoughts on Marvel's Doctor Strange teaser trailer here:
5) It's An Origin Story!
In the comics, Dr. Strange is at times a schemer and manipulator. And he also happens to be a big jerk. It looks like the film will be depicting that aspect, presenting Strange as an prideful and ego-centric doctor. We're possibly going to see this selfish jerk make the journey as he transforms into a superhero.
4) She's Gone Bald!
The Snowpiercer actress Tilda Swinton is playing The Ancient One, the mentor who trains Strange (Cumberbatch) and Baron Mordo (Ejiofor). Notice how the cast and crew are making this fake place in Tibet grounded in reality. Strange has to pass through snowy mountains before he gets a mystical beatdown from the Ancient One.
3) The Mean Girl!
If you saw the footage, you're probably asking yourself, "What's Rachel McAdams doing here?" McAdams could be playing a fellow doctor, the sidekick, or the romantic interest. After seeing McAdams kick butt in True Detective Season 2, I hope she's really Lilith, the mother of all demons in disguise!
2) The Rebuilding!
We've watched The Day The Earth Stood Still director bring in the awesome visuals through special effects. This critic understands it looks like Inception, but readers should know their cinematic history. The rebuilding sequence goes back to Alex Proyas' Dark City and this critic cannot wait to see how Derrickson puts his own spin on it!
1) He Is The Sorcerer Supreme!
The Imitation Game looks freaking good in a cape! At the end of the trailer, we catch a glimpse of Strange's personal hideout, the Sanctum Sanctorum. This is where Strange hides all his ancient text and artifacts. The architecture and lighting looks amazing!
Marvel's Doctor Strange will hit theaters on November 4, 2016.
