Great news for Jumanji film lovers -- if everything will go according to recent reports then, Central Intelligance stars Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson will again share the screen for Jumanji 2 or Jumanji Reboot.
In 2015, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that they were going to remake the film however E! News stated that the remake of Jumanji was "kind of insulting." However, despite some negative response from the fans, it was announced in January 2016 by Coming Soon that Jake Kasdan will direct the remake. Now it looks like the wheels are in motion.
According to Variety, Hart and Johnson are in early talks to star in Jumanji 2, a new adaptation of the original adventure book. The film will go under production this summer and will release in 2017.
Jumanji was released in 1995 and featured Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde and Bebe Neuwirth. The film starts in the year 1969 and tells the story of 12-year-old Alan Parrish (Adam Hann-Byrd), who gets trapped in a board game while playing with his best friend Sarah Whittle (Laura Bell Bundy). Twenty-six years later, the new owners of Parrish mansion, Judy (Dunst) and Peter Shepherd (Bradley Pierce), finds the board game and starts the game and then unwittingly release the now-adult Parrish (Williams). After finding Sarah, these four finishes the game in order to reverse everything that has caused mayhem in their town.
Hart and Johnson starrer Central Intelligence is scheduled to release on June 17, 2017.
We are still in doubt whether the reboot of Jumanji will do any justice to the original, but even we are hoping for the best. Hart and Johnson are both entertaining actors and have amazing on-screen chemistry. The duo will definitely give altogether a different feel to the original story. But at the same time, no one can ever beat Williams comic timing. What do you think, folks?
