WGN America Underground App: Aldis Hodge, Jurnee Smollett-Bell FREE Download!

WGN America has launched a FREE Download App of their original drama, Underground. Before an all-new episode, check out the behind-the-scenes trivia from Noah (Aldis Hodge)and Rosalee (Jurnee Smollett-Bell)'s journey to freedom.

As we previously mentioned, the period drama takes place in the antebellum South as a band of plantation slaves attempt to make a perilous escape. During this time period, the slaves at the plantation risk everything for a chance at freedom. They all want to head on over to the North and escape to the Underground Railroad. Underground will also examine the lives of slaveholders, slave hunters, and abolitionists.

According to Zap2it, WGN America executive vice president, marketing and promotions, Brian Dollenmayer describes the concept behind the app, "The response to 'Underground,' from the favorable reviews, social media frenzy and the strong ratings, has been absolutely amazing. And now passionate fans of the show have a one stop shop where they can get the content they love at any time, all in one place."

The app will provide clips from the show and behind-the-scenes videos for fans to watch. Each user will be granted access to the episodes and articles from around the worldwide web about the series itself.

In an interview with Variety, Smollet-Bell describes being on the period drama, "It challenges me to be like, 'If we come from such strength and such courage and those people that we come from were able to achieve what they achieved in spite of the great obstacles they were up against, I have absolutely no excuse in my life and anything that is wrong with our country and our community we have to take responsibility and take it into our own hands and fix it."'

Underground continues on WGN America Wednesdays at 10pm. The Underground app is available for download on all iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
