Director Brian Singer posted an exclusive photo on Twitter yesterday, with the message, "Tomorrow it begins." With that said, it looks like today is the first official day of shooting for the highly anticipated movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film is set for release on July 18, 2014.

Here is the tweet that Brian Singer posted to Twitter on Sunday:

As you can see, it features Sir Patrick Stewart in character as Professor Charles Xavier in his X-Men uniform. This is a particularly exciting picture considering Days of Future Past will feature both the original cast of the early 2000s X-Men films and the cast from X-Men: First Class, the prequel film.

On top of yesterday's picture, Singer has been using Twitter to keep us updated on some big (and even not-so-big) updates for the film.

Here is a picture that features Singer standing in front of a completed "Cerebro" for the film:

Also, here is an apparent essay authored by the film's protagonist, Charles Xavier:

Here is what Singer calls "Magneto Toys":

Lastly, one of Singer's first tweets about the film was a very important one. This quote and this picture tell a lot about the character Hank McCoy who adopts the name "Beast" in the X-Men universe. It brings up some questions though. Specifically, will actor Nicholas Hoult portray both young AND old Beast in the upcoming film?

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be the sequel to First Class, but since it involves time-travel we get to see some familiar faces including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page. We also see some returning cast members from First Class including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.
