Comic book legend Stan Lee, who has created almost every Marvel hero, is geared up to release his first Indian superhero-film titled, Chakra: The Invincible. The live-action superhero film will be directed by Bollywood director, Vikramaditya Motwane.
Hollywood Reporter reported that Chakra: The Invincible is adapted from Lee's first Indian superhero character as a comic book of the same name. The comic book story was first adapted as an animated TV film that premiered on Cartoon Network India back in 2013. Now, the live-action film has gotten the green light. Lee has found the right director he was looking for and the right production studio to back the entire project.
In an official statement, Lee stated that he is very excited to launch his first Bollywood superhero movie. Lee further revealed that his love towards Indian cinema has grown over the years and he trusts Motwane that he will do pure justice with the story.
"Vikramaditya is an amazingly talented filmmaker who I have no doubt can make the Chakra film a massive hit in India and around the world. I only hope he remembers to include my cameo!"
Who is Chakra?
In Hindu mythology, Chakra stands for each of seven centres of spiritual power in the human body. The story of Chakra: The Invincible is centred on Raju Raj aka Chakra, who is a young tech engineer from Mumbai. He becomes a superhero after his mentor Dr. Singh invents a suit that weaponizes the body's various chakras.
In Bollywood, Motwane is famous for directing some acclaimed feature films like, Udaan and Lootera. His 2010 film, Udaan, was the first film in the seven years officially selected to compete in the A Certain Glance category at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Bollywood too has made several films featuring superhero like, Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One and Hrithik Roshan's Krrish series. Now with Lee on-board, it looks like the Chakra is going to be one of it's kind.
