'Person of Interest' S05E11:Synecdoche Root/Shaw/Finch/Reese Premiere Recap

CBS continues the Season 5 premiere of Person of Interest. In Episode 11, Synecdoche, are Harold Finch (Michael Emerson), John Reese (Caviezel), Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and Root (Amy Acker) ready to fight the all-out war between Samaritan and The Machine?

Reese and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) show up to pay their respects at Root's funeral. Fusco admired Root's conviction  but he was crazy as coco-puffs. In Root's voice, the Machine talks to Finch as he fixes at his getaway car. Finch wants to disappear but The Machine changes his voice to ease the tension.

The Machine loved Root because Finch taught her how. As a police car pulls up, the Machine fixes up Finch's identity. After Finch drives away, Shaw is at the playground, where she dies in the simulations. Reese tries to console Shaw and get her back to fight. 

Shaw is given a message by The Machine. She has to do undercover work that Root was doing. Getting a call from The Machine, Reese discovers the President is their next number.

While Team Machine on stakeout, Fusco notices something is off with Shaw. Reese has to to crash the party as Shaw enters the gala. A previous number, Logan Pearce (Jimmi Simpson), helps Reese enter the ceremony. Shaw mingles with the crowd as Reese notices an exposed brick containing a bomb. 

The bomb explodes somewhere else but a hacker promises to assassinate the president. Reese realizes it was Pearce making the threat.

The Machine wonders why Finch never thought about fixing his limp. The Machine asks to unlock her full potential to save many more lives. Finch believes it is time for a different tactic. While Fusco sticks close to the President, Shaw finds a fake driver's license. 

Shaw attempts to torture their waiter, who turns pout to be Pearce's cohort. With the President on the way to his speech, Fusco follows Shaw as she breaks into a building, following the waiter. This is all part of an anti-surveillance organization.

All of a sudden, Shaw finds herself under the gun. After the lights are turned out, Shaw fights as Fusco barges in shooting. Knowing there is a decoy, Reese tries to figure out where the attack will come from.

After Shaw steals a gun, Reese meets another number he saved. Fusco discovers the attack is coming from a drone. Shaw takes the shot at the Present as the drone hits the the car. Unfortunately, the Secret Service thinks Reese and Shaw tried to kill the president. 

Fighting through secret service, Reese and Shaw are rescued by Joey, a former number.Shaw splits as Reese follows Joey. Fusco is also saved by a former number.

Finch has a virus that could kill Samaritan but there will be collateral damage. Reese realizes Pearce was on the good side all along. The Machine had sent Pearce and Joey to save Reese and Fusco. There is a new Team Machine saving numbers.

Reese knows it will be one helluva fight coming up.
