Last Saturday, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda left the Broadway role that made him the White House's favorite, dropping from the title role of Alexander Hamilton in the show. While things were bittersweet for the Tony winner, there was one thing from the Founding Father he couldn't wait to be rid off: the ponytail.

After years of growing his hair to play the man on the $10 bill, the award-winning New Yorker had enough of the ponytail and cut it off barely a few hours after his last bow in the Richard Rodgers Theater. The way Miranda announced his new 'do to the world was simple and hilarious, as he took to Twitter to quote the Hamilton tune "One Last Time" and share a snap of his former locks, far away from his body.

Later during the night, his father, Luis A. Miranda, shared a snap of his son looking happy while getting his new haircut, accompanied by wife, Vanessa Nadal. While some people (like the guys over at Jezebel) are currently mourning Miranda's long locks, the multi-talented New Yorker looks about eight years younger after shedding his Founding Father hair. Right now, he looks far more like Usnavi, the lead character from his first Tony-winning show In the Heights, than the guy who founded the Coast Guard. Two days after stepping down from the Broadway smash, Miranda's already moving on in a big way. In the early hours of Monday, the Pulitzer Prize-winning writer joined pop star and fellow Puerto Rican American Jennifer Lopez on The Today Show, as they both sang their new single, "Love Makes the World Go Round," a song created as a tribute to the victims of the Orlando Pulse shooting, with all sales benefitting the survivors. That's only one of the things Miranda's doing in the next few months: he's also part of the crew behind Disney's next animated movie, Moana, which will give the company its first-ever Polynesian princess. He'll also be part of an upcoming Mary Poppins sequel, playing a Dick Van Dyke-like character to Emily Blunt's new version of Julie Andrews' character.

Miranda wasn't the only member of the Hamilton original cast who stepped down last weekend: Tony-winning Leslie Odom Jr. (who originated the role of Hamilton's "frenemy" Aaron Burr) and Phillipa Soo (who played Schuyler sister Eliza) also left the show last Saturday, as their one-year contracts expired.
