The new Power Rangers movie, a reboot of the Mighty Morphin show, will try to steer away from the franchise's campy past to introduce a new version of the Rangers, darker and more nuanced -- and they've hired a top actress for the role of the main villain. Elizabeth Banks, long announced as galactic baddie Rita Repulsa, just got a new image -- where she threatens Yellow Ranger Trini!
It's been a few months since Banks was announced as the main villain for the film, but there's a new snap of her in character and it's fantastic. In the latest image, the Pitch Perfect 2 director is in full costume as Rita Repulsa threatening young actress, Yellow Ranger Trini.

Accompanying the new snap, Becky G., who plays Trini, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming film, which is currently being shot, and specifically about Banks' amazing take on the 90s sci-fi villain --- and what it was like to shoot the choking scene.
"It was just funny. There were times when we're wearing harnesses and you have to be, like, hung up, so we're not actually being thrown around, but it's awkward," the young actress said. "There were just times when I was in my harness hanging there like a little piñata just waiting to get thrown into the wall by Elizabeth, so little things like that cracked us up. There's a part where she's hovering over me, and to get the coverage, at one point she was just, like, on top of me, and we're just there having a normal conversation. It was really fun."
The Power Rangers movie is nearly done filming, and it'll introduce five newcomer actors to the big franchise: besides Becky G., the rest of the Rangers will be played by Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), Ludi Lin (Zack/Black Ranger), RJ Cyler (Billy/Blue Ranger) and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).
Last week, Lionsgate released a series of character posters of each of the Rangers through the movie's official Instagram page, but so far there's one major character missing from the shown footage: leader Zordon.
Multiple Emmy winner Bryan Cranston, most famous for his amazing performance as Walter White/Heisenberg in AMC's Breaking Bad, was the last name added to the Power Rangers cast, and he'll be playing the man who assembled the teen of teenage superheroes.
