Friends reunion rumors have been getting around in 2103, but earlier this week a faulty report claimed that NBC confirmed a comeback season for 2014. This of course spread all over the Internet and was soon proven false. Unfortunately one of the show's stars, Jennifer Aniston, knew nothing about the latest rumor and was caught off guard on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" when the host brought it up.
"I'm responsible for the entire Friends reunion that's gonna happen," DeGeneres told Aniston, which got a loud applause from the audience.
But Jennifer seemed very surprised at this news, responding to Ellen saying, "Well, you're hearing it here first. As am I!"
"No, I just heard, before you came out here - like an hour ago - it's all over the Internet. There's a big rumor. It started in Oklahoma," the talk show host explained to the former Friends star.
Jennifer quickly responded, "Did Matthew Perry start this? 'Cause he's getting some good airtime on this show. I've been watching."
The conversation then goes off on a tangent and never comes back to the 2014 Friends comeback reunion season. Although the NBC sitcom's former star's confusion can be seen as evidence enough that the reunion is just a rumor.
Here is the video clip from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that features a surprised Jennifer Aniston addressing the latest rumor:
Just one day after the rumor started to spread, Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman told E!:
"I'm going to clear this up-it's not happening!" She then continued, "Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there's no need anymore," Kauffman explained. "I'd rather people go, 'Oh, please! Please!' than 'I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.'"
So keep hoping, but it looks like there will never be a reunion.
