“Ocean’s Eight” Updates: All-Female Reboot Series Cast Popular Stars; Release Date Announced

"Ocean's Eight" is finally going to happen. An all-female version of the hit Ocean's series will finally grace the big screen. However, fans would have to wait a little longer since Warner Bros. announced that the movie would be released June 2018. And apparently this date is also the release date of another anticipated franchise installment. June 2018 is also the premiere for Transformers 6.

"Ocean's Eight" producers appear to be cool with the premiere date clash with a very popular movie franchise. Cinema Blend said that producers acknowledge the competition but plans to release "Ocean's Eight" as a form of counterprogramming. Definitely there are no special effects used in the movie so it caters to a larger population of viewers who are not into fighting robot movies. The report further said that it is true that "Ocean's Eight" is not a competitor and it does not actually need to be.

And aside from "Transformers 6" "Ocean's Eight" also needs to worry about other franchise competitors who have also planned to release on summer 2018. Reports said that "Toy Story 4" as well as "Jurassic World 2" will also premiere on the same weekend as the two movies.

Apart from not being a sci-fi movie, "Ocean's Eight" may actually fare off in cinemas considering that its cast is already as awesome as they are. Each of the eight women already has a strong gathering of fans which would surely give support come release date. Aside from Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, "Ocean's Eight" also stars Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina.

Screen Crush has also revealed the possible plot for "Ocean's Eight." In the movie, Sandra Bullock plays Danny Ocean's sister. She plotted to frame a loathed gallery owner by stealing a necklace from the Met Ball. But she could not accomplish this feat on her own. Following her brother's footsteps, Bullock assembles an all-women team to help her steal the necklace. And just like all the other Ocean plots, the team commits a crime to stop someone more worse than they are.

"Ocean's Eight" is a reboot of the Ocean's movie series and by the time of its release, it will be eleven years after "Ocean's Thirteen." Fans and followers of the Ocean's Trilogy may want to consider why producers started at eight? Are they plotting out possible nine and ten movie series to follow?  All these questions may take time to be answered as fans would have to wait two years to check out "Ocean's Eight."
