Cartoon fans who spent time watching shows from the year 2001 to 2004 would more or less be aware of a show called "Invader Zim." The show remains to be a cult favorite by cartoon lovers even until today.
Every now and then, rumors of return and even a new movie based on the series teases fans triggering nostalgic excitement. Just recently Cartoon Brew published an article wherein a fan asked C.H. Greenblatt about whether Nickelodeon would work with Jhonen Vasquez for an Invader Zim movie. The source claimed that Greenblatt revealed that Vasquez was in fact making in fact making an Invader Zim movie for Nickelodeon, Greenblatt even stated that he was excited for it but was not part of it.
Even though it would be amazing if the movie were to really happen, creator Jhonen Vasquez shot down the news that began to spread when Greenblatt posted (now deleted) on his Tumblr account about the Invader Zim movie. This was further fueled when Jhonen posted a tweet that people mistook for the progress of the believed movie, the tweet said " Might finally finish this first draft tonight, but I'll need YOUR help. A THOUSAND of you must die in the proper sequence. Get it right."
One can see how people assumed this given the knowledge that Zim (the main character of the show) is known to speak in such tone. When the news had been released, Jhonen responded to Cartoon Brew on Twitter denying the announced film. His tweet being, "@cartoonbrew this rumor comes up every freaking year. There'd be a million movies at this point for each resurgence of this old thing."
Did Nickelodeon really lie to their fans or is this all an elaborate plan to confuse cartoon enthusiasts and cover up a secret that was "accidentally" revealed? Until the answer to that is revealed, Invader Zim fans can indulge in the continued comic book that is proven to exist according to Comicverse who had an interview with the comic series' creative team.
Yes, this announced news is now proven to be false, or is it?
