GSW's Stephen Curry bounces back, sets new NBA record against Pelicans

Stephen Curry shatters the NBA's single-game record for three pointers, with 13 three pointers, as the Golden State Warriors win against the New Orleans Pelicans last Monday night. The win places the Warriors on the third spot in the Western Conference with 6 wins and 2 losses, just behind the LA Clippers, with a 7-1 standing, and tied with Oklahoma Thunder at 6-2.  

This comes after Friday's 117-97 loss to the LA Lakers, where his streak of 157 consecutive games with three-pointers ended abruptly, according to The New York Times. Hitting 0 for 10 from beyond the arc signaled the end for the two-time MVP's streak, which started back in 2014.

Curry did 13 for 17 three pointers, averaging 76 percent from beyond the arc. The rest of the team, however, was not doing so well in the three-point department. USA Today reports that the rest of the Warriors went 3 for 18, with Klay Thompson shooting 2 for 4, Kevin Durant made 1 out of 4, and Andre Iguodala has 0 for 4. Curry ended the game with a total of 16 for 26 shots, five rebounds and five assists. Durant finished with 22 points, while Thompson contributed 24 to the team's 116-106 victory. Anthony Davis gave 33 points for the Pelicans, who are still looking for their first win of the season.

 Warriors coach Steve Kerr was not surprised with how he bounced back from the loss. Davis also stated that "He was being Steph." Curry calls it "a special night."

The previous record for three pointers in a single game was 12, which were held by Kobe Bryant, Donyell Marshall and Curry himself. The record of 12 was first set by Bryant in January 2003, which was matched by Marshall on 2005. Curry became the third player to achieve the record last February 2016.

Curry finished last season with a total of 402 three-pointers, way above the 286 he made the season before.
