In its December patch update, the developer plans to introduce more options to their mobile game Pokémon Go. While no details yet regarding the exact date the update is to be released, it promises to be the biggest update for the six-month old game.

One of the biggest updates that it would receive is the additional Pokémon that would be added to the game. As Venture Beat confirms, Generation 2 Pokémon (from Gold, Silver, Crystal and remakes Heart Gold and Soul Silver) will become available, including the Legendaries Mew and Mewtwo of Generation 1.

This would bump up the roster of Pokémon to 251, including Ditto, which would be released alongside the update. Ditto will reportedly be appearing as other Pokémon in the wild, so players are advised to look carefully when spotting commonly disregarded Pokémon like Ratatas and Pidgeys. Some may also get a Ditto through hatching a 2-kilometer egg.

Some of the aspects that made the original Pokémon games interesting were the Player versus Player and Trading systems. And while part of the reason for the dwindling fan base was the absence of these trademark features, GamenGuide reports that these will be made available as well in the December update.

On other news, the recent Thanksgiving event is ending at November 30th, while an earlier balance update, released November 21st, fixed the stats of the existing Pokémon, which affected the already existing metagame. Thankfully, the Thanksgiving event offered double experience points and stardust to help players catch up with the balance update.

Pokémon GO claimed immediate success upon its release, with more than 500 million downloads and revenues as much as $600 million within 90 days of its release back in July. Based on the phenomenal handheld game Pokémon, it allowed Android and iOS users to capture Pokémon based on the augmented reality that developer Niantic made for the game.

Unfortunately, due to lacking features and promotions, the hype it built came crashing down, experiencing a drastic decrease in players. Good thing, that with the start of the Halloween update, the game is back on its tracks and if all goes well with the upcoming update, it may bring the mobile game to another level.
