Cartoon TV show, Dragon Ball has been prevailing since quite a few years. Multiple television and film projects have been made in and around this iconic cartoon series thereby catering to the interests of the fans. The iconic series was given a change in 2016 when the Dragon Ball Super was launched.

Dragon Ball Super, an adventure-action packed cartoon TV show created by Akira Toriyama, Atsuhiro Tomioka and Norihito Sumitomo has been vying for attention for fans ever since. However, over the span of one year, the extensive content list was found to emerge in a new form of filter namely Canon. There are no official statements regarding this particular change, however, as noted by Comicbook, fans have made their own guide to the franchise over the years.

Dragon Ball Super was recently added to anime list. The series represents a direct sequel to Dragon Ball Z. The plot essentially revolves around the main character, Goku and the comrades' followers after the Majin Buu threat comes to an end. The show has gradually taken over the anime world, both in the domestic and abroad market.

Meanwhile, audiences choose to accept everything in the Dragon Ball franchise as canon even if they contradict one another, but many instead choose to pick which storylines make up the most fluid storyline. Fans consider the highest level of canon in form of its manga. In fact, there are many discussions that take place on the website, Anime Stack Exchange forum depicting the views of the fans.

One of the users by the name of Alagaros commented, "This really depends on what you consider canon, but for now let's define "canon" as material that's covered in the original source material and has impact on the story. Since this season does have a manga adaptation and takes place after Kid Buu Saga from Dragon Ball Z but before the tournament with Uub, I would say that this is canon material."

In addition to his role as series creator, Akira Toriyama is also credited for the "original story & character design concepts" of the new anime directed by Kimitoshi Chioka. The anime is being adapted into a companion manga by Toriyama alongside artist Toyotarō, author behind the official Resurrection 'F' manga adaptation. It began serialization in the August 2015 issue of V Jump, which was released on June 20." It remains to be seen if this idea takes the form of an official series.
