The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly looking to trade three-time All-Star forward Paul Millsap after the Kyle Korver trade.
The news comes at the hills of risking to lose Millsap for nothing in the free agency this coming July. The team is reportedly entertaining calls for a deal to get them to sign a versatile forward.
The Hawks are looking to acquire a quality first-round pick in exchange for the veteran cager, ESPN reported. However, an offer may not even pan out given the amount of money that Millsap might attract this summer.
If the reports are true, the Hawks may be unloading some of its veterans in exchange for young guns as a move to rebuild. If this is the case, the Denver Nuggets who are reportedly chasing Millsap could trade the extra first-round draft pick that they got from the Memphis Grizzlies, CBS Sports reported.
Another team that is reportedly eyeing to get Millsap is the Toronto Raptors who also have an extra pick courtesy of the Los Angeles Clippers which would likely fall in the lottery. The Raptors may also reportedly sacrifice their rookie Jakob Poeltl who went at no. 9 pick in last year's draft but it remains to be seen if the Hawks will entertain such offer.
For his part, Millsap said that he wants to stay where he is. "Whatever happens, I think everybody knows where my heart is and where I want to be. But we'll see what happens. The only thing I can worry about and I can do is to go out there and play my butt off every night and try to get wins for this team," he said.
However, he did say that he does not like hearing about the trade rumors but admitted that being a seasoned professional, he would just have to go along with it.
