It's was one epic battle and the Broadway lovers will forever cherish it.  Neil Patrick Harris, yes our all-time favourite Barney from How I Met Your Mother, challenged English host and comedian James Corden to a Broadway rip-off. Harris challenged the host on the latter's show The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday.

Harris made fun of 38-year old Corden for having won the Tony Award for a 'non-singing role'. Now, Corden did take the 'singing' challenge seriously. He belted out Sit down You're Rockin' the Boat from Guys and Dolls, reported MailOnline.

Harris, who has hosted the Tony Awards several times, wasn't behind and immediately came up with his rendition of "Everything's Coming Up Roses." As the singing battle got more intense, Harris, who won the Tony Award for best leading actor in a musical in 2014, sang "Being Alive". Corden wasn't lagging behind either and readily came up with "On My Own" from Les Miserables.

Well, given the enthusiasm of the crowd, it surely seemed that both of them impressed the audience with their talents. Harris, acted in films such as Gone Girl (2014), The Smurfs (2011) and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) said that Broadway is "all about being sexy".

After the two belted out a number of Broadway songs, a real revelation came from Harris. According to E!Online, soon after the commercial break, Harris, who hosted the 87th Academy Awards, took everyone by surprise when he said he has had a wardrobe malfunction and has split his pants.

"When I went down on my knees there, I had a nice wardrobe malfunction and split my pants from my a** to my knee," said Neil Patrick Harris. "I left it all on the stage for you," he added.
