Nintendo Switch is coming to the market very soon and pre orders are now available. The hype is high, as there are a lot of games that will come to this console. Big Nintendo game franchises such as Pokémon, Zelda and Mario will each have a Switch game this year.
In the past days, specs and features are announced including the price and the accessories of the Nintendo Switch. These announcements seem to excite more and more Nintendo and gaming fans. Another feature was announced; Nintendo Switch will come with a new paid online service. The service is called "Monthly game download. This service seems to replicate that of Microsoft's "Game with Gold" and Sony's "PlayStation Plus". The service will be available on fall this 2017.
According to the description in Nintendo's official site, the new online feature will let you download and play specific Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game for a month as long as you are subscribed to Nintendo's paid online service. After the trial, you won't be able to play that specific game again even if you're has subscription unless you buy a copy of it.
Subscribing to the Nintendo online service will also give you online gameplay, online lobby and voice chat app. Deals from Nintendo will also exclusive for Nintendo subscriber.
We still don't know the price of a monthly subscription yet, and it is possible that Nintendo is testing the water for the customer's reactions about this new service. Guess what? They're upset. According to Polygon , a thread from NeoGAF is exploding with comments like this:
"Nintendo has always been stingy with VC. This is an extension of that." Going further, someone "praised" Niintendo on how generous they are and even thanked Jesus Christ for that. NeoGAF member Trojita emphasized in his comment you will need to rebuy all of your VC titles too. Users commented that it is ridiculous and that It is like a paid demo or a "free rental."
It seems that other users are okay with it as long as the price will be reasonable. There is still no announcement on how much the price of the subscription will be, but this will be a deciding factor for the Nintendo fans to avail subscription or not.
