Motorola Sends Out Invites To MWC 2017 Event Feb. 26: Moto G5 Plus Expected

Motorola has officially sent out invites to a Mobile World Congress (MWC) event scheduled for Feb. 26, 2017. The invites simply state "Hello Moto" with a featured date and time. There are no other informations with regards to the invite, but fans are hoping that the developer will debut a new generation of Moto G smartphones - the Motorola G5 Plus.

Although Lenovo did not disclose much information about the device, the invites sent out tips the launch of a new smartphone under the Moto brand. Mobile World Congress set for Feb. 26, is an annual trade show where major manufacturers often unveil latest technological developments.

The G Plus is speculated to feature a 5.5 inches full HD display and is also estimated to be powered by a Snapdragon 625 SoC with 4GB RAM, according to BGR. Fans are also hoping for a 16/32GB internal storage options and a 16MP rear camera. According to reports, Moto G5 Plus will be running Android 7.0 Nougat. The device will ship with the Android 7.0 thus, making one of the first phones to accomplish the height.

However, leaked images of what is supposed to be the Moto G5 has been circulating on the internet for almost a week now. The photos and the accompanied information suggest that the device will include a 3,080 mAh battery and no USB Type-C.

Indian Express reports that, judging from the design of the device on the invitation, it could be the highly anticipated Moto G5 Plus, which leaked last week. The press image of the supposed phone was posted on Weibo, which revealed the device in a silver grey color with a single rear camera.

The design was similar to the Moto X, which made fans to speculate that Lenovo will introduce the next generation Moto X. A later report which counteracts these speculations was made, suggesting that the device is not the Moto X, but the XT1670.

Furthermore, a device with the same design was spotted on a Romanian site OLX, called the Moto G5 Plus. Although, the OLX listing has been removed, it reveal speculations such as a 5.5 inches FHD display,  4GB RAM, Snapdragon 625 processor, 13MP rear camera, 32GB internal storage, microSD card support,  5 megapixel front camera, 3,080mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner.

It has been rumored that Lenovo intends to produce the Moto G5 which will look much like the Moto G5 Plus, but will little alterations. Motorola is working towards launching 12 MODs in 2017. However, there is no official update on this.
