2016 was a good year for Pokemon. With Pokemon GO taking the lead of the most popular mobile games last year, Pokemon fever has been a global phenomenon again after a decade of sleep. And with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon at the later part of 2016, I would bet that Nintendo had a great Christmas and New Year as Pokemon SM is one of the most played games for 3DS at the start of 2016.
Battle Spot Season 2 has been announced earlier this week and according to Serebii, a leading authority when it comes to Pokemon news, the season two will run from January 17 2017 to March 19, 2017 and will only be playable through Pokemon Sun and Moon. So if you want to participate, you will have to buy the game.
The battle type will be single battle. Pokemons restrictions are set to National Pokedex. You can only choose one Pokemon on your team when you decide to use the following Pokemon: Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Deoxys, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma and Magearna
Standard rules are applied, which means that the Pokemon that you will enter would all be set to level 50. Out of your 6 Pokemon in your party, you can only choose three to participate in one battle. No Pokemon must be similar and the held items would need to differ from each other. Single Battle and Double Battle on Rating Battle on Battle Spot will be updated in order to allow the National Pokedex to ban legendary and mythical Pokemon. Pokemon from XY, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire can now be used in the battle. Not much is known if the Pokemon received from Poketransporter can be entered.
And with the Pokemon in your Pokebank, it will be available once the Pokebank for Sun and Moon will be opened. There are still no announcements about the date but it is announced that the PokeBank for Pokemon SM will be arriving this January. The service will a cover an annual fee of €4.99 However, a Youtube Video from Verlisify said that the rumored date for PokeBank update would be on January 17 so be sure to mark your calendars.
