Mass Effect: Andromeda's creative director Mac Walters has hinted that a Project Scorpio version of the game could become a possibility.
When Walters was asked in an interview by GamesRadar if Mass Effect: Andromeda could expect a similar level of interest or support for Project Scorpio as the PS4 Pro improvements, he answered "Given our Spring release date, I'm not sure exactly what we're going to be able to support at that time, but we have a strong service plan for ME that will continue past our release date." He also added, "if we do a Game of the Year edition, or a future edition or something like that, that's something we'd definitely consider looking at, for sure."
Two weeks ago, it was reported that Producer Michael Gamble said that there were "absolutely no plans" for a Project Scorpio version of Andromeda. But with Walter's statement, there is a possibility of a Project Scorpio version of Mass Effect: Andromeda.
For those of you who don't know what Project Scorpio is, it is a gaming console from Microsoft which boasts 6 teraflops of computing power. Accoding to Value Walk, the Scorpio has a 1.8 teraflop advantage over Sony's PS4 Pro and would even put the console on equal with some gaming PCs. AMD chips will also power the Scorpio which will enable the machine to deliver HDR, 4K resolution and high fidelity VR. Check out this Project Scorpio announcement video shown during E3 2016.
And with all that hardware in a box, you can't expect Project Scorpio to be cheap. The estimated price in the U.S. is ranged from $399 to $550. However, the PS4 Pro will have a one-year head start over the Scorpio and is currently selling for $399. But when the Microsoft machine hits the market, Sony will then have the option of lowering their price for the PS4 Pro. That will pose a problem and will put pressure in Microsoft's strategy.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for launch on March 21, 2017 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One formats. Xbox Project Scorpio on the other hand is scheduled for a Holiday 2017 release.
